Forever Facts
It's almost end of summer, which you know what means? For you probably the beginning of new school year (or perhaps not..) but for me it means I have tons of work to do. Namely pass five more exams if I want to finish my year at college. Otherwise it was all for nothing.
Anyhow, as every good student I spent the entire summer saying I will start studying the next day and had instead chosen to do something more pleasurable (at least in my book): watching TV series and creating (I made tons of bobbin lace jewellery some other DIY projects and I also draw quite a lot.). Oh and I have also done tons of writing. I must say there's nothing that spikes my creativity as the need to study. But back to my favourite way to spend time - TV series. This past summer I grew particularly partial to (almost) any police-related series that ever existed (and I was able to put my hands on). And seeing I had already seen the popular ones (namely NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, Bones, Castle... Not that this stopped me from re-watching the last two all over again) I had to do something drastic - I went to IMDB and watched the pilot episode of almost every TV show they have listed under action/drama/mystery/thriller (I think it was only one of those words, but I can't seem to find the page to verify which one...). Oh, what a great time this was. I must say I found most of them boring, some were OK, and there were also some I didn't want to end. But there was also one I was surprised to see...
Do you remember a while back when I was fussing all over this new TV show that's coming to ABC? It's called Forever and it follows a medical examiner working in New York. Nothing special you say? Not exactly, this ME we're talking about can't die (that poor bastard... But I guess they had to find a reason to name the series Forever?) Anyhow, as it turns out (and I didn't expect this at all!) there's another series that follows a immortal man living in New York. So the concept isn't completely new, but who cares?I've seen like three adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but it still gets me every time! And fact remains, these two shows are only similar in the basic concept - they're both about a man who can't die. Gosh, I almost forgot to tell you what's the title of the other show (I just checked, it was on FOX and it was cancelled after one season. Damn, now I'll never know who was John's true love!). Well it's called New Amsterdam (that's right, I hadn't heard of it before this summer as well. Also here's a fun fact: The series is (my guess!) called New Amsterdam, because this is what the island of Manhattan was first called when the Dutch inhibited it. I'm so smart right?!?).
The basic difference is in Forever the star (from now on dr. Morgan) is a medical examiner, and the star of New Amsterdam (we'll call him Amsterdam. After all this is what he called himself) is a NYPD detective. At least this is what they are in this present life. However both of them have a confidant, a man they trusted their secret immortality. In both series you'll see flashbacks (at least I think so, I hadn't seen Forever yet, but from what I have read it looks like it), about the colourful life they both lived. So if you need a crash course of history of New York, please feel free and watch New Amsterdam. I don't guaranty you it's all accurate and realistic (after all, the man can't die!), but at least you get to see how the Flat Iron district and Times Square changed through time. It's a beautiful minute of every episode =)
I bet there's many more similarities and I promise to keep you posted. Though there's one more thing you should know not to expect in New Amsterdam... In forever dr. Morgan dies, he's reborn in water (I think it's the East or Hudson river. Not sure, but I'm not even an American, so you should be proud I even know which rivers are there. I knew watching TV series will pay me off one day!!!). This is probably the writers attempt to make his re-birth symbolic, but since he's re-born naked, it really comes out as a one big joke. And why on Earth doesn't he hides clothes near the place he comes out of the water. Public indecency is a b***h. No naked dude being re-born in a river in New Amsterdam. The one time it shows him die, the man dies and than wakes up again. You know, like when somebody is falsely pronounced dead and they stick a needle in him in the morgue and he jerks up as he wakes up?
So, if you're bored (like I am. Right now I'm watching CSI. But this is more for research for one of my stories. Wouldn't want to get the forensics wrong when I'm solving a crime on paper!), and can't wait for Forever to start on TV, you can try to get your hands on New Amsterdam. It's not the same, but it gives you a taste of what I think will be a great TV show (it better be. There's no way I'll have to watch Katherine Heigl save the White House or Josh Duhamel make fun of something with his partner on the streets of Battle Creek).

My Summer Project - LACE
I've learned how to make lace when I was about twelve years old. I took a class in school, and I liked it. When I went to high school and I stopped visiting the classes, I stopped making lace. But this summer I decided I want to make some lace jewelry, and because I forgot how to make some of lace making techniques, I googled if they were on the internet. They weren't, so I just had to make do with my old notes. Luckily for me, I have great motoric memory. I remembered how to make them, and now I want to share this knowledge with you. So I made videos of how to make lace. This is the first one. I know I have to make another one real quick with the basics of how to tie the knots between the bobbins in the pair. And how to prevent the thread from just falling off the bobbin. I promise I'll try my best and do that in the next 24h.
And now to lace making. I put the video on YouTube for everyone to see.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
-Pillow
-Pins
-Colored thread (I used the one that's usually use for gobelin-making instead of the thread for lace-making, because it's easier to see what I'm doing in the video this way), like pink and violet
-Two pairs of bobbins (that's four bobbins)
-Scissors
-Patience
LET'S START!
-First your bobbins must have thread on and be tied together in a pair (I did that before I start filming...)
-Put the pin into the middle of the pillow and put the bobbins, so you'll have each pair on one side (two bobbins with pink thread on the left and two bobbins with violet thread on the right)
-In each hand take the bobbin of the right and put it over the bobbin on the left. Than take the right bobbin (=the bobbin on the right side) in the left hand and put it over the left bobbin (the bobbin on the left) in the right hand.
-Repeat the movement. If you're doing it right you'll get the original setting of the bobbins on every fourth repetition. (if you started with pink on the left and violet on the right, after the first repetition you'll get (from left to right) pink, violet, pink, violet; the second time you'll get violet, violet, pink, pink; the third time: violet, pink, violet, pink; and the fourth time you'll get the original setting: pink, pink, violet, violet.)
-When the braid starts moving too much (it's too long to continue without moving too much) just put a pin in the middle (after you're finished with crossing the right bobbin in the left hand over the left bobbin in the right hand) between the bobbins, so you'll get two bobbins on each side of the pin.
-I went around the pillow three times, so I really learned how to make it. But you can just continue until you're sure you know how to do it with your eyes blindfolded.
-When you're finished you need to tie it. Take a pair of bobbins into your hands and put the right bobbin over the left one, so you have the right bobbin's thread under the left bobbin, and the left bobbin's thread over the right bobbin.
-You need to make two knots for each pair. Cut the rest of thread away right under the knots (be careful so you don't cut the knot.)
-Leave the lacy braid on the pillow for a few hours, than remove the pins and you have your first official lace.
I know that it doesn't look like much, but it's the basic. I already filmed the next technique, I just need to edit it. It's more practical than the four braid lace... BTW I used this lacy braid for a bracelet, but you can also use it as a decoration for your homemade bookmark...

73 Questions... Just Like Blake Lively
Gossip girl is over (and we, I mean I am still mourning the loss!), so this means Blake Lively (if you've been living under the rock since 2007, that's the chick that played the legendary Serena van der Woodsen) has a lot more free time on her hands... I guess she's not fond of making a musical carrier, like so many young Hollywood actresses do these days. If you're not a triple threat you're nothing in Hollywood (wait, isn't this a Broadway 'thing'?). Anyhow, she just launched her new lifestyle page called PRESERVE.us and supposedly (according to bunch of internet sites I accidentally saw) it's a Goop-like site (apparently a lifestyle page brought to you by Gwyneth Palthrow), just darker. Translation: it has a black background and Goop has white. Big difference, right?
So, in order to promote her newly launched page, she did a video, where a person behind camera asks her 73 quick questions. I liked the questions, so I thought, why not do them as well.

Book of the Month (TBT - June): JANE EYRE
Of all the books I have ever read (and I have read a lot of them) there is one I like more than others. It's a book that got me trough some though times. The book I'm talking about is labeled as a "classic". I'm a female, so you're probably thinking: "It's Jane Austen. It's always Jane Austen." Well, you'd be wrong. It's still a female author and with familiar topics of writing. And the title also has a Jane in it.
Yey, if you're thinking that the book I'm talking about is Jane Eyre, congratulations are in the order - you were thinking right.
Jane Eyre made my day when I was going through a tough time when I was about eleven or twelve. All of the sudden I felt like I was missing out on life. Everyone knew everything that was going on. I felt lost, and this might sound cliche, but I got a feeling everyone around me knew what they were doing except for me. I had no idea what to do. I've read a lot of books before, but when you're twelve, all of the sudden you realize that books on children and young adults section aren't as interesting as they once were.
I discovered Jane Eyre by accident. I was looking at the books in the library and there was this lovely blue book in soft print. I thought, "Hey, this book looks good and I heard it's supposed to be great." What was the turning point was the fact it was in soft print. All those years ago, it was rare for a book to be in a soft print. And I always choose the longest books. I believe I already had ten other books, so one in soft print wouldn't do much of the difference in the weight I had to carry home (it's a twenty minute walk from the library to my home).
I took my time before reading it. But when I did, I feel right into it. I left the 21st century and traveled back in time on this amazing journey with an orphan from Longwood. Jane Eyre was brave, though and intelligent. She was all I wanted to be and at the time, this book gave me courage to be who I am. To be brave enough to fight for what I want (and it wasn't to party) and stand behind what I believe in. Because no matter what, I had it better that Jane, I had (and still have) a family that loves me, stand by me and supports me. And for a teenager, full of hormones and all about pushing its rights, it was a revelation of the century.
There are a lot of books out there that are labeled as "classics". To me, most of them are boring. Maybe it's because I'm a child of modern age, were everything needs to be filled with suspense and action. Things should always move, stories should always have something going on. Or maybe I just don't understand what all the fuss is about. I don't care if the book is labeled classic or a fan fiction or a biography. As long as it has an interesting story plot to follow and it's well written I'm all for it.

Isn't it beautiful? After quite some time I've visited my page on Polyvore and this is one of the things I saw while I was making my last set. I absolutely love it!!! I don't even know what's so special abut it, but I absolutely love it! It was sold on Etsy, but it's sold out right now. There's a link under the pic, you can check, there are more (just different dimensions) and all of them are absolutely lovely!
And Summer Has Officially Began!!!
Can you believe it? The final's month is FINALLY over and right now I'm having my hard earned holidays! Well, you can hardly call it holidays, since I'm constantly bombarded with demands from my relatives like: Do this... Make sure this is done... Take care of this...
And it never stops! They want me to pick up kids from daycare, to entertain them while they are having a break - which seems like all the time! Sure I like kids, but right now, I can't even look at a picture of one without remembering about how loud and dirty and demanding they are. If someone asked me if I want to have kids, right now, I'd say no. It's not that I'm not capable of taking care of them, I just don't fell like all the extra work that comes with them. Sure if they come I'll be grateful and will love them with all my heart, but I'm not planning on having one for the next ten years... Besides, I'm still young, there's absolutely no need to hurry.
About my finals, so far I know I passed 7 out of 13 exams, I'm still waiting the results on one, and have a total of five to do in the fall. So yeah, these holidays I'll definitely need to study if I want to pass this year. And I do, I have no intention of going through this year all over again! So, wish me luck, and pray that I'll have enough strength and motivation to study, so I'll pass those stupid exams!
Now to more happy news. I decided to do something, besides watch TV shows and work this summer. Not that I already got a job, but I'll probably do some waitressing in one of the nearby caffes. Or something like that. But that's not relevant. What matters is I'll probably open an Etsy shop and start selling handmade traditional Idrian lace. I've learned how to make a lace in seventh grade in the past few years I've seriously considered the option of making lace jewellery and accessories. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to make lace shoes, like the one's Ben Affleck wore on one of the premiers (I think in Venice... Holy guacamoly, that rhymes!)
Let me know, what do you think of my idea (the one of opening an Etsy shop). I really don't want to go through all the hard work the process of making a lace requires for nothing. Because here's an example: To make that small patch of lace you see on these shoes I'd need about five to eight hours to make. Depends on how good my mood is at the moment.
Anyhow (how much I loooove, this word!), I have to get back to my vacation a.k.a. work camp my relatives created.
God, I missed this. I promise I'll do my best and start writing again (and do all my usual posts about TV, movies and books. Three of my favourite things - if you forget about shopping and food)

Wish Me Luck...
...Because I'm gonna need it!
For me it's this time of the year again. The finals month. Yep, that's right, the college I go to has a finals MONTH! Talk about going overboard =)
Anyhow, I'm not really happy with the way the college I go to teach and the way it forces us to study. Way too much theory and the fact I can only study psychology 24/7 makes me wanna puke. Which I probably will after all the coffee I consumed to make up for the sleep deprivation studying is causing. And for the next month don't you dare to say that studying isn't killing you. Because in my world it goes like this: studying is for exams, exams cause stress and stress can kill you or at least cause some pretty disturbing things (like insomnia, it can lower the ability of your immune system which than makes you more vulnerable to all the germs flowing around, and I on and on...)
And today my one month nightmare starts with an exam on Sociological Psychology. Which I learnt from flashcards. And yes, it was possible, because the professor has this weird thing going on in this exams. It's a Yes or No type of thing. He gives a statement and it's either wrong or it's right. All nice all well but the trick is that if your answer is wrong you get minus one point (if it's correct you get 1 point and if you don't answer at all you don't get a point). So, if you're one unlucky SOB, then you can get a final result of minus 40 points. Fun, ha?

For closure, I think I did horribly on the exam, my mind went blank and I was barley able to figure out one right answer (that I'm 100% sure it's correct). So yey, for now my score is only -39 points ;)

Because in my world it goes like this: studying is for exams, exams cause stress and stress can kill you or at least cause some pretty disturbing things (like insomnia, it can lower the ability of your immune system which than makes you more vulnerable to all the germs flowing around, and I on and on...)

For closure, I think I did horribly on the exam, my mind went blank and I was barley able to figure out one right answer (that I'm 100% sure it's correct). So yey, for now my score is only -39 points ;)

I Got My First Kiss!!!!
Before you jump to conclusion and imagine me like a modern day Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed, I'm really sorry to disappoint you. I've been kissed before, even though it would certainly be fun to go out in a search for the first and perfect kiss.
What I'm talking about are Hershey's kisses. Yep the chocolate ones. And I know how hard it is to believe I never had one, but it's true. I've always ate either Milka or Gorenjka (a local chocolate factory) and in the past few years Lint and some other Swiss based chocolate factories. But never in my life have I ate Hershey's chocolate. I know, I know, I've been to USA and I had a chance to buy and eat Hershey's chocolate... But the thing is, when I'm travelling I'll rarely spend money on something as unnecessary as food. As a matter of fact I lost 5kg while I was in NYC this past fall. Impressive, ha?
But truth be told, I could buy them I just didn't feel like eating chocolate (but I did feel like eating Capitan Crunch and Willie Wonka sweets) and when I came back home and saw them in the store, I thought they were quite expensive for the amount you get. So when I saw them in the store with 50% off, I was the happiest girl in the store!
I don't now if you tried them before, but I absolutely loved them! They are DELICIOUS! Maybe a bit too sweet, but this is the way I like it =)

The Awkward Obsession
Before you get all worried and run away from reading this blog, I don't have an awkward obsession, I have an Awkward obsession. Still don't get it?
I became obsessed with this TV series called Awkward. I don't know how it happened, or why, I just know I just spend the last four hours binge watching it. I already went through the last and the first two seasons. So, high five for me, I still know how to spend the day doing absolutely nothing productive! God, my life sucks.
But so does Jenna's, the main character in the Awkward series. Except I'm a tad older than she is and my problems doesn't involve guys. At all. Because I don't have a boyfriend or a crush I can do something about. I'm single and it looks like it's going to stay this way for a while. I kind of don't mind, having a boyfriend is hard work and right now, I'm kind of happy I'm single. And this is the end of my pity-party&pep-talk-for-my-better-self-esteem-in-one. For now.
Anyhow, she has tons of problems, and so do I. Even though I am older than her, I can still relate and this is why I got sucked in (and created another problem!) and can stop thinking about the series. I mean seriously it's addicting. And if it will continue this way, I might actually need to go to rehab. Because right now, all my favorite series had a season finale and I'm suffering from a serious withdraw problems. (Fine, I'm having one more minute of this pity party, bu then I'm over!)
Hurahay, I got over myself and party over my obsession with Awkward. Maybe I'll just watch one more episode, or two... Maybe one more season?

Can't Wait For What The Fall 2014 Brings On TV
So this week the TV networks were kind enough to enlighten the humble TV viewers with their decisions about which TV shows will be renewed and which cancelled and which are coming to the TV.
I'm crying over the cancellation of Suburgatory, but the worst news was the cancellation of The Crazy Ones! And to top that off, they ended with a cliff-hanger. A freaking CLIFF-HANGER!!!! Now I'm not crying, I'm mad. I'm really mad.
Don't those people on TV know what it does to a person to not know the end and the horrible feeling you get from knowing you never will. Would it kill them to decide a month before on weather or not there will be another season? Maybe then the writers could wrap things up in a decent way. And definitely without a freaking cliff-hanger.
Anyhow, right now I want to tell you about this one series that is coming on TV (I believe in fall 2014, but if I could change that I would want to watch it right now). It's called FOREVER.
I checked all the trailers and storylines and I liked this one the best.
The story centers around a 200 year old guy (played by that dude from Ringer - Ioan Gruffudd) that work in the morgue and helps solving crime. Oh and he's immortal, but doesn't know why and does his best to figure out why he can't die. And there's a love story. There's always a love story.
Anyhow I'll be writing more about the TV shows that I love and adore and am obsessed with in the near future. For now, this is it.

One Night Love Affair
So, here I am again. Suzy (a.k.a. my laptop) is currently hibernating, because of excessive use of SPSS (that's a statistics program). Because, if you haven't figured out yet, I'm a psychology student and this year most of my studies centers on statistics. So thank you whoever created SPSS, I'd die if I'd have to manually calculate all the things we have to do. If you ever had to do something statistical, than you know, it's (mildly put) a pain in the as*.
But back to basics. If I'm not mistaken I already mentioned I joined Wattpad. It's this awesome Internet community in which you can publish your works and read works of other people for free. But be careful, you might get addicted. I definitely did. But join anyways!
Soooo, I kind of started on a new book. I decided to test my theory that I'm a decent writer and prove to myself I can write in English just as good as in my native language. So far, so good.
The book is called One Night Love Affair (just click on the title and you'll be reading it in no time at all). I don't know if you know singer Paloma Faith, but few nights ago I was chilling and surfing the web, when I came across her song Only Love Can Hurt Like This. I absolutely loved it! So I checked out her songs and fell in love with 30 Minutes Love Affair. Yes, this is the song that inspired the story.
The story currently only has one chapter, but I kind of know exactly what will happen in the next four. I just have to take the time and put my thoughts on a paper. Hopefully I'll be more consistent with publishing this story then I'm with writing the blog ;)

"Man, that girl is CRAZY!!!" - Confessions of Gossip Girl Addict, part 3
Besides the fact, that I (almost) never keep a promise I make on the internet (so yes, this doesn't really counts as a confession, since, let's face it, it's really clear to everyone who has ever read anything on my blog!) there's a few things I thought should make the cut for the part three of Confessions of Gossip Girl Addict thingy I have going on here.
First of all, I didn't really plan on this to go on so long, but this has became my safety net for not going completely bananas for not telling everyone about the latest crazy thing that I did.
Second, I think it's safe to say, I'm a pretty crazy person. I do prefer the term special though, so please, if you're planning on judging me and saying: "Man, that girl is crazy!" please consider replacing the c-word with s-word, and yes I mean SPECIAL!
About my confessions, so you know these people that have way to much on their hands? And they don't know what to do with it, so they go and do something? Anything really? I'm not one of those people. When I'm bored and don't know what to do, I just find somebody, anybody really and start complaining. About anything and everything. Somehow, when everything else fails, complaining never, ever get's old. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!
One down, two more to go. The second one is no real surprise, but I kind of figured out my life is so pathetic, that I spend so much time in front of TV I kind of already seen all the good TV shows international television has to offer. So when I saw some news about Ariana Grande I realized, she was/is on a TV show. So I said to myself: "What the heck Lucy, why not go and check out that Victorious show she was on." And I did. And absolutely fell for it. I know, my life must be so pathetic, but you must admit it, didn't you ever want to go to a high school like that? I'd love to go to a high school like that. This way of thinking resulted in me seeing the entire four seasons in two days... Well, what can I say? I'm nothing if not?!?! SPECIAL!
And the last, but not the least, Wattpad. You might know what it is, but for those who don't, it's a online community of writers and readers. You can publish a book and people can read it for free, they can comment, vote and stuff like that. It also has an app, that got me into trouble. The thing is, I just joined Wattpad like a week ago, and since then I hadn't had a decent night sleep yet. Because I always end up reading these amazing books in the evening and they have me sucked in so much that I can't stop reading until the end of the book. And after that I have to play Candy Crush, because two and a half hours has passed and my lifes are full again. Speaking of which, I'm gonna go now, and get to this next level even if it's the last thing I do before I (finally) go to sleep. Because where I am right now, it's 1.30 in the morning. Oh, the price of becoming obsessed with Wattpad....
